Dear Friends and Family,

Today is a big day for me - Dane Cook's ISolated INcident CD and 30 "Premeditated Acts" DVD has finally been released.   It debuted at #4 on the iTunes Pop Charts! To quote the Grateful Dead, "What a long strange trip it's been!"

In addition to producing the audio for the CD (my third Dane Cook CD production), Dane entrusted me with directing and producing the DVD documentary that is being released with the CD.  This hour long documentary chronicles the evolution of the set that became the CD and "ISolated INcident TV Special."

For the documentary, I shadowed Dane as he performed night after night at the Laugh Factory, often to crowds as few as 20 people.  I watched him as he fearlessly mined his own personal tragedies, such as the suicide of a friend, the death of his parents, and the myriad of detractors and haters, for all the comedy he could find within these terrible circumstance.  The result was a set filled with tears of laughter and sadness, all within a space of a few minutes.  It's a Dane Cook that has never been seen before.

The documentary is framed around a two hour conversation I had with Dane - just the two of us sitting in a coffee shop, looking through the hours of footage we had shot, and talking about what he was seeing.  Being on camera with Dane, asking him questions that probed his very personal tragedies, was one of the most intense experiences I have had.

You can preview/purchase the ISolated INcident CD and 30 "Premeditated Acts" DVD on iTunes here:

As an added treat, I was able to include my song, "A Nuclear Blast," as the end title.  We felt that this odd charm song about nuclear holocaust made a fitting comment on the documentary.  You can preview/purchase the song here:

Shout Outs:

Film-making is truly a collaborative art, and I want to share a few quick notes of thanks to the people who helped to bring this project together:

Matt Jones, my intrepid DP and lead cameraman who was the best safety net a director could have hoped for.

Likewise, Chris Immel, Matt's partner in 5th House TV, who helped guide me through the process of getting from the camera to the finished product.

Dane's managers, Brian Volk-Weiss and Barry Katz, who trusted me with such an important task and gave me unprecedented freedom for a first timer like myself.

My manager Austn Godsey, attorney Jerry Glover and my brother David Garfinkle, for putting up with my crazy sense of work ethic.

Jay Chapman, my able friend who assisted me in 1000 ways on the project.

My lead editor, sound mixer, and auxiliary cameraman, Stuart Noone.

My fellow composers, Mark Phillips, Simone Benyacar and Jon Shanes for pitching in some extra music when my director and producer screwed up the schedule and didn't leave me enough time to...  Oh, that was me too...

My dear Eímear, who picked up all the pieces of our life when I was burried in the thick of production.

And of course, to Dane.  Thanks for trusting me with such an amazing project!

Wishing you all the best in your own adventures...
